Rianne Downey Reflective On ‘Home’

Up and coming Scottish singer-songwriter, Rianne Downey is back with a brand new single from her forthcoming EP. ‘Home’ is a reflective track looking back at her youth, music career and friendships, and was released the day after Rianne picked up the ‘Tennent’s Light Breakthrough Award’ at the 2022 Scottish Music Awards.

We last heard from Rianne on ‘Devil’s Gonna Get You’, the single that preceded performances at Manchester’s Neighbourhood FestivalTRNSMT, and the Isle Of Wight Festival, along with support slots for Paolo Nutini and The Snuts.

After leaving her native Scotland behind to move to Liverpool, a city steeped in musical history and culture, ‘Home’ sees Rianne working with three of the city’s music talents in the shape of Nathaniel Laurence (guitar), Phil Murphy (drums), and Sam Topping (bass). Rich Turvey, known for his work with Courteeners and Blossoms, is the man in charge of production.

Rianne Downey commented: ““I wrote ‘Home’ when I was still wondering whether I was going to stay or go. I always wanted to look to and travel over the horizon. Although I love Scotland, being from a small place can make people afraid to venture into the big wide world. That’s great for anyone that can settle, but it was never for me.”

‘Home’ is a taste of what’s to come on Rianne’s second EP release, the follow-up effort to 2021’s sell-out vinyl success, ‘Fuel To The Flame’. You can listen to the new single HERE. The new EP is set for release in January 2023!
