‘Retro Futurists’, Reclaim Vienna are back with their latest single, ‘Joker’, aptly released today on April Fools Day and now available on all digital platforms. The track is yet another top release from 42’s Records, a label created out of Manchester’s iconic indie nightclub ’42nd Street’ (42’s).
The latest offering from Reclaim Vienna is an upbeat dancefloor filler and sees the band exploring a variety of genres. It was one of the first songs they ever wrote but today is the first time fans will get to hear the track as an official single.
Reclaim Vienna’s Danny Smith says: “It’s a song that has stayed with us from the start, so we felt it right to release it as a single. Working remotely with producer Ben Booker, we now have a song that is a cross genre Pop / Dance / Rock track. The song could easily be construed as a lovesong but the ‘she’ in the lyrics actually personifies any idea or thought that plays on your mind and cannot be shifted.
“It’s about the relentless pursuit of divisiveness and confrontation. It’s about confrontation, anger but also resolution. Even though this song was written a few years ago, we feel the lyrics are more relevant now than they have ever been.”
Reclaim Vienna headline Manchester’s The Deaf Institute on 7th August, where you will get to hear ‘Joker’ performed live. You can listen to the new single here: https://open.spotify.com/track/5JPJkyu4qfolgzev2cGatC?si=iPs66yw6RBGVy2dLJn0rgw
