Over the years, Sounds of the City has established itself as one of the most eagerly anticipated series of events in the UK music calendar.

Its annual run of summer shows at Manchester’s Castlefield Bowl has brought the likes of Arcade Fire, Noel Gallagher, Courteeners, and The National to one of the city’s finest outdoor venues in recent years.

As the lineups change and evolve every year, there has always been one name associated with each edition of Sounds of the City.

This is, of course, the Hacienda Classical, gaining a cult following and establishing a record-breaking annual residency here.

Now, FAC51 The Hacienda has confirmed a huge show at Leeds’ Millennium Square, the sister venue of the Sounds of the City festival series, after recently expanding outside of Manchester.

The Leeds gig will take place on Friday 19th July, and special guests are expected to be announced soon, which in the past have included the likes of Peter Hook (Joy Division, New Order) and Rowetta (Happy Mondays).

Hacienda Classical comprises Tim Crooks and the Orchestra of Opera North, who lead the collective of artists and musicians on stage in performing well known favourites and new versions of club classics all mixed continuously into one non-stop set.

As well as their Sounds of the City residency, the group have opened Glastonbury’s Festival’s Pyramid Stage, as well as performing at the Isle Of Wight, Kendal Calling, Lytham Festival, and the Royal Albert Hall.

Tickets go on sale Friday 1st March at 9.30am here.
