Inspiral Carpets have revealed the latest taste of their first new album in 12 years.
New single, Touching From A Distance Too Far, is taken from their forthcoming record, Burn Like The Sun, out January 29th 2027.
It follows first single Drag The Bag, produced by Jagz Kooner (Primal Scream, Oasis, Kasabian), and follow-up There’s A Better Way.
Inspiral Carpets commented: “To us, ‘Touching From a Distance’ is another classic Inspirals track. A nice blend of 60s psychedelia, 50s rock ‘n roll and cool 21st century contemporary vibes.
“The lyrics, written by Graham, are a nod to one of the Inspirals’ favourite and most influential bands, Joy Division. A song about regret and never truly knowing someone.
“The breakdown near the end of the song was producer Jagz Kooner’s idea, he wanted that DJ drop down vibe that eventually kicked back in. We love it!’

Inspirals unveiled the album news with a special announcement video (here), narrated by Professor Brian Cox.
Recorded at Blueprint Studios in Manchester, the comeback album also sees the band teaming up with Manchester label, Scruff of the Neck Records.
The partnership was first announced at the band’s sold-out Manchester Albert Hall show in December 2025, highlighting the “shared spirit between one of Manchester’s defining bands and one of the city’s most forward-thinking independent labels”.
