In celebration of the forthcoming compilation album, featuring interpretations of tracks by The Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, and New Order, Alcopop! Records are hosting a series of special listening parties across the country.

It is the latest development of Rochdale‘s reign as Greater Manchester Town of Culture.

The Rochdale Development Agency launched ‘Rochdale Music Stories’, a collaboration between The Stockport Music Story, Voltalab Sound Studios, and Alcopop! Records.

The result is a celebratory record for their local music history, specifically Cargo and Suite Sixteen Studios.

Funded by Arts Council England, Rochdale Development Agency and Rochdale Borough Council as part of this project, emerging Rochdale artists have reimagined classic tracks that were recorded at the studios.

It will be released by Alcopop on limited edition orange vinyl on 7th August 2026.

On Saturday 8th August at 3pm, the listening parties known as ‘Rochdale Hour’ will be taking over Rough Trade record shops in Bristol, Liverpool, Nottingham and London.

It will provide fans with an opportunity to hear the album in full with free beers from Heywood’s Phoenix Brewery and LOUD! goody bags available.

Speaking about the album and event, Jack Clothier of Alcopop commented: “The album sounds incredible, and you NEED to hear it, so we’re linking up with our good friends at Rough Trade to bring ROCHDALE HOUR to London (Rough Trade East), Bristol, Nottingham and Liverpool.

“From 3pm on Saturday 8th August, we’d like to invite you to come listen to our first Rochdale Music Stories album, Kenion Street, have a couple of beautifully brewed beers from Heywood’s own Phoenix Brewery (on us of course) – and take home a gift bag of lovely Rochdale based things (limited stock).”

To further celebrate this legacy, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, Peter Hook & The Light and A Certain Ratio will play a huge gig in Rochdale on 7th August to celebrate where their recording careers began. Final remaining tickets are available HERE
