Sunderland artist Tom A. Smith is back with the latest instalment from his opening era with Fiction Records…
It has been a pivotal career chapter that has seen both the sound and stage presence evolve to new heights.
New single “SFX” is out now, and Tom commented: “I wanted this song to have a confidence that I don’t always feel when it comes to body image.
“I know I’m not alone in struggling with insecurities. ‘SFX’ is three minutes where I can dance and feel better about myself — and hopefully listeners can too.”
It follows his recent appearance at SXSW in Austin, Texas, and the announcement that Tom will perform at BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend in his home town.
Tom continues: “I’m really excited for Radio 1’s Big Weekend this year. It’s in Sunderland, my home city, and I know how incredible the crowd will be.”
He is also set to head out on a major UK headline tour this spring, along with support slots for Lottery Winners and The Maccabees.
And with Glastonbury, Leeds Festival, and Big Weekend performances already under his belt at the age of just 21, along with support slots for the likes of Elton John, Catfish and the Bottlemen, and Miles Kane, Tom is no stranger to the big stages.
The live performances follow the release of his acclaimed EP Say What You Want via Fiction Records.
He is also set to portray Dave Stewart in the upcoming musical memoir film Ebony McQueen, so it’s safe to say that it’s an incredible time to be Tom A. Smith!
