Peter Hook & The Light have announced a special show at Manchester Academy to celebrate 50 years since an iconic and inspirational gig.
On 4th June 1976, The Sex Pistols came to Manchester for the first time at the Lesser Free Trade Hall.
In the crowd of just 40 people that night, there were some future Manchester icons, including Tony Wilson, John Cooper Clarke, and soon-to-be Joy Division band members, Peter Hook and Bernard Sumner.
Inspired by the show, Hook would buy a bass guitar the following day, and go on to form some of the most influential and iconic bands, creating seminal, classic albums in the process.
Five decades on from that pivotal night, on 4th June 2026, Peter Hook & The Light will perform a special set spanning Hooky’s career, including Warsaw, Joy Division, New Order, Revenge, Monaco, and Freebass.
Peter Hook commented: “On the evening of the 4th June 1976 my life changed forever. I hope on the evening of 4th June 2026 yours will too.”
To make the evening that bit more special, the band will be joined by very special guests, Buzzcocks.
Fittingly, Buzzcocks were instrumental in bringing The Sex Pistols to Manchester that night, and it seems only right that they join Peter to celebrate next year.
General sale begins on Friday 5th December, you can get tickets here.
