Belfast‘s electronic post-punk innovators, Chalk have released their incredible new single ‘Can’t Feel It’ via ALTER Music.
The track is the latest output from the band’s new partnership with the NYC headquartered label, following the acclaimed August single release ‘Pain’.
The track was produced by Chris Ryan (NewDad, Enola Gay, Just Mustard) and band member Ross Cullen, mixed by Andrew Dawson (The Rolling Stones, Jay-Z, Tyler, The Creator), and mastered by Chris Gehringer (Lana Del Rey, Lady Gaga, Rihanna).
Speaking ahead of its release, Ross Cullen commented: “We wanted to write a dance track that celebrated the ups and downs of youth. It’s about a secret first kiss I had with a friend when I was younger, and reminiscing on the euphoria of that — but also the excitement of keeping something hidden from everyone around me, which in the end led to feelings of solitude and alienation.
“‘Can’t Feel It’ is a song about sensuality, yearning, and desire. I wanted to set this story in a medieval world of courtly love and rivalry, merging mythic imagery with modern elements like smartphones and earpods. The result is a music video that reflects the tension between repression and release, tradition and experimentation.”
Premiering on BBC 6 Music’s Huw Stephens show last night, the single aligned with Chalk announcing their biggest UK and Ireland headline tour to date.
Kicking off in April, the tour includes the group’s biggest headline shows to date, including London’s iconic Electric Ballroom on April 23rd, and a huge homecoming gig at Limelight (May 16th).
Chalk are also set for their debut US headline tour this November, including dates in New York and LA.
