The Dream Machine are back tomorrow with their first new release of 2025!
The Wirral quintet will release Fort Perch Rock, the title track from their new EP, also landing tomorrow.
It is named Fort Perch Rock after the historic fortress in New Brighton, overlooking the Liverpool coast.
Once a bastion of national defence, the fort now stands as a monument, café and symbol – a relic of power overlooking the band’s often-overlooked seaside hometown.
Frontman Zak McDonnell commented: “The title track, Fort Perch Rock, is like looking through a backwards telescope — a tiny, smashed-up version of a band playing their loudest.
“It’s a place and a feeling. A look back at 1950s beauty pageants and outdoor swimming baths, then a sharp look down at your ice lolly, hairy and melted in the sand.
“Musically we were inspired by The Red Devils, The Stooges, Eddie & The Hot Rods, The Coral, 60s psych nuggets, R.L. Burnside and Jim Henson.”
The upcoming release follows their debut album, Thank God! It’s The Dream Machine (2023) and sophomore record, Small Time Monsters (2024).
The EP also features “Daddy Rollin’ (In Your Arms)”, “Like I Always Do”, and “Smells Like Rain”, with all tracks self-produced by the band.
And you can expect to hear the new songs on the road next month, as they follow their coveted guest slots before the likes of The Big Moon, The Charlatans, and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, with a run of headline shows (as follows).
