After becoming Fiction Records‘ latest signing, and after months of teasing on social media, Sunderland‘s Tom A. Smith has today released new single ‘Fashion’.
Fiction Records is the label home of The Cure, The Maccabees, Tame Impala, and many more big names in the music industry.
Now, Tom joins this prestigious list, and the first single release of the partnership is already a firm fan favourite off the back of live performances.
Jim Chancellor of Fiction Records commented: “So, so happy to have Tom sign to the new-look Fiction. He’s been grafting his whole life at his craft.
“Having kept a close eye on him, the time is now for sir Tom. Fiction is honoured to be part of his next chapter.”
Despite being aged just 21, Tom A. Smith has already played Glastonbury twice, BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend, BST Hyde Park (with Elton John), and opened Leeds Festival to 6,000 fans.
He has toured with Catfish & The Bottlemen, Courteeners, Miles Kane, and DMA’s, while also drawing praise from music icons such as Morrissey and Nile Rodgers along the way.
Tom commented: “Signing to Fiction is incredible. So many of my influences came through this label and I feel that connection already. It’s a real honour, and ‘Fashion’ feels like the perfect way to kick off this new era.
“I’m really excited for everyone to hear what we’ve created. It’s become a staple of the live set and points the way to our new sound.”
To celebrate the release, Tom A. Smith will play the following run of live shows later this year.
